Similar to Raven, Zatanna could provide a visual feast with heavy SFX but a much brighter palette than the Cambion’s story is likely to be. Zatanna could bring some joy to the DCEU, something which it’s sorely lacking.

Aside from Harley Quinn’s psychotic style of happiness, there’s only The Flash who seems like he’s really having a good time so far. While Justice League did have bucketloads of special effects, there was no substance to it and the whole affair was very forgettable as soon as it was over.

Obviously, there’s extenuating circumstances with the production there, but that excuse doesn’t track through the whole DCEU. Deadpool even jokes that Cable must be from the DC Universe because he’s so dark. While there’s nothing wrong with a grittier approach (there are times the MCU could be more gritty and less quippy), the DCEU has definitely gotten the balance wrong.

Her costume is perhaps a little campy to play well, but just look at the tweaks made to the likes of Harley, Scarlet Witch and Wolverine on screen.

With her magic illusions, unique skillset and charging ability, DC will be missing a trick if they don’t include Zatanna.
