10 DC Movie Easter Eggs And Setups That Led Nowhere

1. Barry Allen's 'Gorilla Sign Language' - Justice League

The only jokes in Justice League that didn't feel completely forced came from the mouth of Ezra Miller's Barry Allen, and one of his most fan-pleasing quips hits home when he casually lists "gorilla sign language" among his list of skills.

As anyone familiar with the DC Comics source material will know, this was a sneaky reference to classic Flash villain Gorilla Grodd, an ape who gains hyper-intelligence, telepathy and super strength when an alien spacecraft crashes down in Africa.

Don't expect this to become anything more than an in-joke anytime soon, though, as there are no signs of Grodd swinging his way to the DCEU. Flashpoint has been confirmed as the storyline for the Flash's first solo movie, and the simian bad guy isn't a major player in the comic book version of that event.

If you're disappointed about that, you can see Grodd in action in the Arrowverse, in which he was reimagined as a silverback gorilla that STAR Labs has been experimenting on.
