10 DC Storylines That Need To Be Adapted To Film
3. Batman: Year One
The name might give it away, but yes this is an origin story. Now before there are comments saying we don't need another Batman origin story, this one is slightly different. Half of the story focuses on Bruce becoming Batman, but more importantly, the other half shows how Jim Gordon grew to be the well-loved man we know him as.
Batman Begins had some inspiration from this as it shows Batman taking down crime bosses while dealing with the SWAT team on his back. One thing we need to keep in mind though is that this movie adds more to Gordon that we didn't know previously, and that's exactly what a movie adaptation would need to focus on.
One of the better parts of The Dark Knight trilogy was the relationship between Bats and Gordon and how it showed how much they relied on each other to keep Gotham safe. A coming-to-be story centred around Gordon might be the missing ingredient to making another origin story tolerable.
Gordon has always been depicted as a saint, but that wasn't always the case. He has a temper when it comes to people threatening his family, even going as far as breaking the law to do it. In this tale, he cheats on his pregnant wife with a fellow police officer, and that is something that no other story has shown us before. If this movie gets adapted Batman does need to be a massive part of it, but what makes it so good are the parts revolving around Gordon.
