Death is an absolute. We've yet to figure out a way to stop the process of dying and until we do we'll continue to exhibit a fascination with our own demise. Some of us are more fascinated with death than others and some of our brightest filmmakers make up part of this delegation. We're going to do something special here and celebrate ten of the deadliest directors the film community has ever seen. (macabre, I know) Anyone can direct a nice film (not exactly true but go with it, ok?) but it takes someone with real balls to direct a nasty little slice of cinema. These ten guys we're about to discuss have not only done that but they've made a career of gleefully killing off their characters for our enjoyment. I know what you're thinking, that we'll just fill this list with horror directors. That would be the safe choice so of course that's exactly what I'm NOT going to do. Let's span history here. Let's assemble a list of ten that spans decades and genres. Let's dig in and revel in the nasty, the shocking, the upsetting. Allow me the opportunity to piss you off by leaving your favorite choice off the list. (wink) You know, all the good stuff about the movies. Ready?
