10 Deadly Directors Who Just Love To Kill Characters

9. Coen Brothers

fargo Surprised? You shouldn't be. The brothers Coen have made a career out of poking fun of criminals and their hair-brained schemes. This almost always ends in death and usually in some hilariously macabre manner. The Coens got things started with the noir thriller, Blood Simple and never slowed down after that. Their trademark quirky characters and offbeat sense of humor has always served to keep viewers off balance and constantly entertained. At the dawn of the nineties they unleashed a gangster classic on us with Miller's Crossing but nothing could've prepared us for what would come a few years later. The best example of the Coens' fascination with the absurdity of murder is, Fargo. We've all seen the film and understand that yet again we're dealing with another murder filled masterpiece. Two words: wood chipper. The Coens hadn't satisfied their curiosity however and went on to examine murder several more times, most notably in: The Ladykillers, No Country For Old Men (their first Oscar for Best Picture and director), Burn After Reading and True Grit. Something tells me they're not finished with their examination of death, how they (and we) feel about murder, murderers and those who chase them down.

I'm married and live in New York with my wife and pets. I'm a writer and definitely not a comedian (just ask my wife). I've successfully linked my twitter, goodreads, facebook and google+ pages although the successful aspect of all that is up for debate. I also started my own blog on wordpress and have just finished my first novel, The Violent Winds. Now it's time to try and trick some unsuspecting fool into buying it.
