10 Decisions New Masters Of The Universe Movie Must Get Right
6. Have He-Man Take At Least One Good Beating
Yes, He-Man is the most powerful man in the universe. Yes, he will win in the end. If the film makers want to get us invested in this character and keep us on the edges of our seats whilst suspending our disbelief, He-Man can't just barge through the rogue's gallery with a wink and a thumbs up. It will require Skeletor playing dirty. It will require some unsavory circumstances, but at least once in this movie He-Man needs to get completely shellacked (without the use of the Lost Eternian Pan Flute of Destiny). Part of being the most powerful man in the universe is having the strength within as well as without. It means relying on your teammates when the chips are down. There is a great illustration out there of Skeletor stepping on the chest of a beaten, supine He-Man. In the picture, Skeletor is holding He-Man's trademark battle harness/chest holster in his fist. This scene should happen in the film before the Masters make their victorious comeback at the end. The right decision: After some epic physical battles, He-Man ultimately wins with inner strength rather than outer. The wrong decision: The infallible He-Man renders his fellow Masters unnecessary.
