10 Deeply Disturbing Horror Films You Probably Missed

4. Inside (2007)

url-14 Another French extremism effort starring Beatrice Dalle, this is an extremely scary home invasion movie in which a mad woman (obviously Beatrice - she's come a long way from Betty Blue) stalks a pregnant woman whose unborn child she is determined to steal. The pregnant woman had recently been in a car crash and lost her husband. Turns out psycho Beattie was in the other car and lost her baby. A series of events conspires to make Beatrice the victor who ends up cuddling the newborn baby. The film references a terrible disturbing crime which has come to light in recent years - foetal abduction in which the perpetrator rips open the abdomen of the victim and runs away with the foetus. The gore and violence in the film is brutal and graphic. I liked the way it was woman fighting woman with no man in between and Dalle was appropriately determined and terrifying. The film drains you and emotionally bruises you. You may not like the ending but it will have a deep impact. Overall, a good one for gorehounds as well as lovers of the best cinema France has to offer.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
