10 Deleted Scenes That Made Movies Way Darker

1. Lightning Gets Lost In A Car Graveyard - Cars

Cars is one of Pixar's more straight-up animated movies, in that it doesn't really lean much on its wider existential potential.

However, a deleted scene would've originally amped up the spiritual dread considerably, taking place as Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) tries to get back on the Interstate and find his big-rig pal Mack (John Ratzenberger).

Lightning ends up going off course and driving through a thick forest which also appears to double as a car graveyard.

As McQueen drives through the forest, he sees "dead" cars scattered around the area, and becomes frightened by the ghost-like sights of several dead cars he believes are pursuing him.

Pixar's animation wizards could've clearly done something spectacular with this, but it would've also stuck out like a sore thumb tonally given that the rest of the movie is considerably more light-hearted.
