Big-game hunter Roland Tembo's willingness to come face-to-face with a Tyrannosaurus Rex and even attempt to hunt down the frightening prehistoric predator isn't really thoroughly explained during the finished Jurassic Park sequel article.

Sure, the idea of taking down "the greatest predator that ever lived" was clearly at the forefront of his mind when leading the surreal safari on Isla Sorna, but a deleted scene from The Lost World actually showcases how Tembo was all but finished with the concept of hunting in the lead-up to this highly specific mission.

Weary over getting a little too good at the whole hunting malarkey, noting to partner Ajay Sidhu that "there were not enough escapes for you and me" and that the pair were a "firing squad", it's evident Tembo is disenchanted about the concept of simply killing animals he probably wanted to just further understand when his long-time ally approaches him in Kenya about an exciting new "challenge".

And it's that lack of real challenges and need to be more than just a "firing squad" before he was finally convinced by Sidhu to lead the expedition that also adds further depth to both Tembo's epic T-Rex quest and the impact the tragic loss of Ajay in the field has on the highly skilled hunter in the end.
