10 Deleted Sci-Fi Movie Scenes That Explain Confusing Moments

2. The Origin Of "To Infinity And Beyond" - Lightyear

Buzz Lightyear's "To infinity and beyond!" battle cry has become synonymous with the space ranger and Toy Story franchise as a whole.

And as expected, the iconic phrase was let loose a few more times during the recent Lightyear spin-off, with Buzz and best pal Alisha Hawthorne regularly sharing the motto during Pixar's latest space adventure.

But oddly enough, the actual origin of the legendary line wasn't really touched upon during the Buzz-centric tale. Though this origin was actually on the cusp of making its way into the eventually released picture, as evidenced in a scene that was originally set to go down in the film's first act.

Before Alicia was given more time to shine in said first act, her granddaughter Izzy was gifted a scene that would've involved her first coming face-to-face with Buzz and providing him with quite a headache upon invading his room. And it's during this back-and-forth that Izzy explains her brother can count to infinity but she wants to go beyond that.

Buzz soon responds by telling her she can't because it's mathematically impossible to go beyond infinity. And so, the moment a legendary phrase was officially born would've made its way into our galaxy... had it been left in the film.
