10 Depressing Things About Star Wars 7

4. We Might Be Getting A Retread Of The Original Trilogy Instead Of Moving On

We don't want to see A New Hope again. We've all got it on home video and practically burned into our brains from the number of times we've seen it. It's been done, we love it and we need to move on and tell different stories. Trying to evoke nostalgia for his first films didn't help Lucas with The Phantom Menace, did it? Nope; just setting a bunch of scenes on the grim parts of Tatooine doesn't make them nearly as charming or exciting as the Cantina sequence from Episode IV. And yet... it looks like we'll be getting some scenes on Tatooine, if such an assumption can be made from the shoots in Abu Dhabi earlier this year. Is there really any good story-driven reason to go back there other than to scratch Abrams' fanboy itch? Maybe - and we'll reserve final judgement for when the film hits theatres - but we kind of doubt it.
