When it comes to Don Logan, however, there simply isn't a single good bone in his body. He is one of the most violent, unsettling movie characters you are ever likely to see. Sexy Beast is one of the better British gangster films of the 21st century. It revolves around a former convict, Gary Dove (Ray Winstone), retiring from his criminal past to live an idyllic lifestyle in a Spanish villa. His happiness is ruined by the arrival of the psychotic Don Logan, played to perfection by Sir Ben Kingsley, who wants Gary's help in a London bank heist. Logan is the epitome of a loose cannon throughout the film, deliberately causing trouble and egging people on to confront him. His attempts at seducing Gary's female friend are unnerving to watch, and the anger he shows when he doesn't get his own way is bordering on the demented. Kingsley's Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination was very well-deserved, and he produced one of the most frightening British film characters of the decade.
