10 Most Despicable Movie Characters Since 2000

5. George Harvey (The Lovely Bones)

The Lovely Bones is a pretty poor film in truth, but deals with the incredibly controversial topic of pedophilia in a pretty solid way; Stanley Tucci's unbelievably creepy performance as the abominable George Harvey earned him a 2009 Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination. Harvey is the middle-aged, doll house-building neighbour of Susie Salmon, a 14-year-old girl who he murders and rapes at the start of the film. As people begin to suspect the loner's guilt, Tucci plays him with such calm that you almost start believing he's innocent. Harvey is definitely one of the most eery film characters of the last decade or so, and is not dissimilar to Robin Williams' underrated "Sy" Parrish in One Hour Photo. Of all the films on this list, The Lovely Bones is comfortably the worst, but Tucci's spellbinding performance as the untrustworthy, spooky Harvey, who had an unsurprisingly troubled childhood, makes it very watchable.
