10 Most Destructive Movie Monsters

6. King Kong (King Kong)

One of the misunderstood monsters, poor old King Kong is uprooted from his homeland and brought to New York where he serves as entertainment for the masses. But you can't keep a good ape down for long, and soon enough he's loose and on the rampage in the city. The original movie's climax atop the Empire State Building has become one of cinema's classic monster shots, and not even a CGI-extravaganza in the over-long remake from Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson could hope to replace it. But the thing with Kong is, he's destructive, but at heart all he wants is to be treated kindly. He is one of the first movie monsters with a heart and that, more than anything, is what makes the movie so enduring. In fact, Kong is so sympathetic that I don't think there's anyone in the world can blame him for going Ape in the Big Apple...
