1. Professor X - Logan

Even in a post-annihilation event future where mutants are a dying breed (and are persecuted once more) in which Wolverine's healing factor has dulled, child mutants are experimented on and destroyed as medical waste and Professor X has a debilitating neurological condition that is essentially killing him, the events of Logan are shockingly brutal.

Logan's own death in the finale is definitely devastating, but it's not unexpected since it follows the old gunslinger arc that's foreshadowed throughout the film (plus it's the right way to end his arc), but the death of Professor X lands a sledgehammer blow that is painfully effective.

The fact that it comes just after he tells "Logan" about the perfect day they've just shared and the story of the accidental murder of the X-Men is doubly impactful. We go from him showing a flash of what he'd lost over the years to the x-24 Clone stabbing him in the heart with his claws, in a twist that is even more brutal when you realise that he's just shared that moment with the wrong person entirely.
