10 Director's Cuts That Ruined Awesome Movies

6. The Warriors

This Director's Cut is probably the most intriguing failure of invention on the entire list, because it is entirely a result of how the film has been perceived since its release. Walter Hill's gangland epic received a prequel video game in 2005 from Rockstar Studios (the guys behind the Grand Theft Auto games), and though the game was met with considerable critical acclaim, some have argued that it also altered how the film was perceived, and resulted in some fairly good intentions having some very bizarre consequences indeed. Walter Hill decided that with the resurgence in popularity of his film, he would re-edit the film to enhance its pulpiness, even including animated, comic book-esque sections, appealing to fans of the video game in the most cynical, condescending manner possible. It's one instance of there being absolutely no need to toy with a classic, but they just went ahead and did it anyway, likely out of sheer greed and nothing else.
