2. Guillermo Del Toro
Why should del Toro join the DCCU? Guillermo del Toro has already expressed interest in directing a Justice League Dark film, and his involvement in the DC Cinematic Universe would be a welcome surprise. Justice League Dark is - you guessed it - a darker version of the traditional DC hero team-ups, starring characters steeped in occult, sorcery, black magic and badassery. Del Toro loves his comic books and has successfully adapted both Hellboy and Blade to the big screen. Additionally, del Toro's reputation and filmography attest to the fact that he would carve his own vision into the DCCU while still adhering to the framework laid down by Snyder. He's a tried and tested director that could hold his own in the wake of Man of Steel and the sequels - and very likely exceed any heights Snyder is able to reach.
What should del Toro direct? Justice League Dark, or solo outings for any of the darker members of that team. Deadman, Constantine, Zatanna, Swamp Thing - if anyone can make these strange properties thrilling onscreen, it's del Toro.
