10 Directors Who Should Lose The Right To Make Movies

4. Roland Emmerich

rolandemmerich600 Roland Emmerich slides onto this list even considering that I loosely enjoyed White House Down for what it was. Of course this was not the first time Mr. Emmerich blew up the White House in grand fashion as doing it in Independence Day is what skyrocketed his career in the first place. Naturally, all White House Down really sums up to is a faded director seeking success through tried and true old habits. It is just less insulting than everything in between. Everything after Independence Day is Roland Emmerich trying to replicate its success, whether it is 2012, his insulting rendition of a laughably not so terrifying Godzilla, 10,000 BC, or more apocalyptic nonsense with The Day After Tomorrow. Roland Emmerich lives to blow the world up without substance, and more often than not it is just boring. He is a one trick pony that desperately needs to go away.
