9. Eli Roth - Death Wish
As any Death Wish fan who's caught the trailer for Eli Roth's remake will tell you, the horror filmmaker has so far managed to get everything about Death Wish wrong.
The Bruce Willis-fronted reboot is basically everything the Charles Bronson original is not, and that isn't meant in a good way.
The 2017 version seems to be a revenge-thriller with a rockin' soundtrack and quirky humour, a fry cry from the bleak, anti-vigilante movie Michael Winner delivered.
Nothing says tonal misfire like a montage of Willis gunning people down while AC/DC's Back in Black rings out. Is this supposed to be Death Wish or an NRA propaganda video on steroids?
Granted, Roth is mostly know for graphic horror such as Hostel, Cabin Fever and cannibalistic exploitation fest The Green Inferno, but just how he took Death Wish's source material and got this out of it beggars belief.
