10 Directors With The Most Movies In The IMDb Top 250

7. Charlie Chaplin (5)

The Movies: City Lights, Modern Times, The Great Dictator, The Kid, The Gold Rush To somehow miss out Charlie Chaplin as one embarked on a journey to embrace the greatest works of cinema would pretty much render the initial task redundant. That's to say, Charlie Chaplin is an essential (perhaps the most essential?) figure when it comes to understand the genius of cinema, and indeed he made a number of motion pictures that - still today - are as fresh and vibrant to watch as they were when they were first released into theatres around the world - some of them almost a hundred years ago! So City Lights might just well be the most beautiful and romantic motion picture ever made, whilst Modern Times and The Great Dictator showcase Chaplin's unparalleled wit and intelligence in all their glory. The Gold Rush and The Kid also mark themselves out as certified classics because they are absolutely hilarious - but the genius of Chaplin is that he was always saying something more. That is, why, presumably, he holds five directorial spots in the IMDb Top 250. Bravo.
