Amongst cinephiles, there are few people more hated than Adam Sandler. His filmography is littered with utter turkeys, alongside the occasional high point like Punch Drunk Love or Happy Gilmore. And yet, there is barely a single comedic actor working today who can hold a candle to Sandler's prolific output. He's the only actor on this list whose filmography warrants an entirely separate Wikipedia page. In the last ten years, he has appeared in more than 25 films and he has played the lead role in the lion's share of them. Sandler's films often amount to nothing more than expensive, unamusing holidays for him and his cast of famous friends. He even admitted as much in an interview on Jimmy Kimmel live. They rely on Sandler's signature manchild persona and a collection of overused romcom tropes, combined with the worst of the gross-out movement set in motion by Judd Apatow. Despite the unoriginality of his films, they are reliable box office draws. With very few exceptions, Sandler's movies tend to make their money back, with a nice slice of profit on top. However poor the material is, there's a core base of Sandler fans who will always flock to the multiplex to see his work. His next project is a four movie deal with Netflix. It will almost certainly be more of the same.
