Even Ben Affleck himself would likely argue that he has had a rather bumpy career. From the highs of Good Will Hunting to the devastating lows of Daredevil and Gigli, his filmography is a rollercoaster that varies wildly in terms of success and indeed quality. As a result of some of his less impressive work, Affleck is often painted as some sort of Hollywood laughing stock and a straight-up bad actor. The furore following the announcement that he would be donning the iconic cowl as Batman was the perfect example of how little faith there is in Affleck as an actor. Before anyone had seen so much as an image of him as the Dark Knight, he was already being derided as the worst possible choice for the role. In recent years, despite the backlash against him, his career has undergone something of a renaissance. His political thriller Argo won Best Picture at the Oscars and he is currently receiving rave reviews for his performance in David Fincher's Gone Girl. Whatever the internet says, it seems that Affleck's career is going to go from strength to strength.
