10 Disney Pixar Actors Who Are No Longer With Us

3. Jim Varney - Toy Story

Who He Was

Best known as Ernest P Worrell, Varney was one of the most recognisable faces in comedy, putting his greatest comedy creation in no less than 10 films. They fared very differently, but there was a lot of affection for him. He also starred in the Beverley Hill Billies and the final 3 Ninjas movie.

He died of lung cancer in 2000, almost 20 years after he filmed an anti-smoking PSA as Ernest.

Role: Slinky Dog

Best friend to Woody (at least before that silly space toy turned up), Slinky is a veteran of the Toy Story franchise, and one of the emotional hearts of the films. He tends to balance Woody when he's too impulsive or harshness creeps in.

He was replaced by his friend (and sound-a-like Blake Clark for Toy Story 3 onwards).

Died: February 10th, 2000
