9. Dave's Dad Died For No Reason
Dave's Dad seems like a terrific bloke. Yes, he's a bit cooped-up, doing tricep-dips in his front room, but he's got a good heart and wants to do what's right for his son. Even when his son pulls the rug from underneath his feet with the mother of all parenting problems armed vigilante-ism he continues being an awesome father and takes the rap for his son's crimes. So far, so noble from Mr. Lizewski. Of course, being a good parent, he makes his son swear of beating criminals with sticks. Again, to Dave's credit, he actually does this.Well, at least until it gets difficult as soon as the Motherf**ker kills his Lizewski senior, Dave gets right back on the horse and sets up a gang fight in which I assume at least 10 people die. And I suppose in a twisted movie logic way, that's acceptable Chris D'Amico couldn't get away with what he did, so if he had to make an exception and don the mask/wetsuit one last time, I guess we can let him off. However, come the final clips of the film we see that Dave is still training as a superhero in Hit-Girl's place, constantly working out and upgrading his equipment. Is it just me, or was that at complete odds with what his father asked him to do? The other heroes seemed ok with taking their masks off and being 'super' in real life, so why can't Dave? After all, he's got nobody to protect by being anonymous any more, and yet he continues to wear the mask. It just seems a bit of a slap in the face, to be honest.
