Brian De Palma's classic 1980 psychological thriller Dressed to Kill kicks off with the brutal demise of housewife Kate Miller (Angie Dickinson), who is slashed to death by a mysterious, tall blonde woman in an elevator.

This individual is later revealed to be Bobbi, a transgender patient of Dr. Robert Elliott (Michael Caine), and the film's big twist is that Bobbi is actually Elliott's repressed alter-ego.

But if you scrub back to around 21 minutes into the movie, there's a neatly unsettling surprise waiting for keen-eyed viewers. As Kate leaves the Metropolitan Museum of Art shortly before her death at Bobbi's hands, the camera pans across the street in front of her and Bobbi can be seen in plain sight for a few fractions of a second.

Make no mistake - that's Michael Caine in a wig and sunglasses alright, with De Palma cleverly hiding the murderer in view before they've been formally introduced to the audience.
