10 Dumb Decisions In Star Wars We Can't Forgive

5. Episode III - The Way In Which Padme Was Written Out The Story

We knew from Episode I that Padme and Anakin were eventually going to smooch. And those smooches would eventually turn into two babies. And unfortunately, the mother of those two babies wasn't going to be around long after Episode III.

But how and why Padme dies the way she does is not only dumb, but infuriating. The two films prior to Revenge of the Sith showed Padme as a headstrong protagonist who could hold her own against a droid army or two.

However, in Episode III we're shown a Padme who has been gaslit (without Jedi mind control) into believing her beloved Anakin isn't a child-murdering monster, and when she approaches him for help, Anakin force-chokes her in an illogical change of character.

Padme became a literal baby-factory in Episode III; with previous agency and character stripped away, her only service was to disagree with Obi-Wan, support Anakin and name her children minutes before dying from a condition that is very real and probably should have been handled with a little more consideration.

Don't worry though - there'll probably be a film in the future that will reveal she was force sensitive this whole time and had been ghosting her way through the universe for the last sixty years.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
