10 Dumb Decisions In Star Wars We Can't Forgive

3. Episode II - Telling Us Where Boba Fett Came From

Despite only ever appearing in two films and saying even fewer words, Boba Fett as a character gained himself a serious cult following for being the silent badass bounty hunter.

While some might be interested to know where he came from, the mystery of who he was and what was under that mask surely added to his aura, and to keep as much about him away from us as possible was part of his mystique?

It's why it's eye-rolling to see in Episode II, Obi-Wan Kenobi encounter a young Boba Fett on the planet Kamino along with his clone-daddy Jango. When Obi-Wan meets Boba, the young boy's acting chops are turned all the way up to negative-three and he displays about the same level of emotion as he would have done wearing the frigging Mandalorian mask!

The decision to give us a backstory to Boba is one of the first signs of fan-service being rewarded badly. It was a needless gesture since we never saw him behave in any threatening manner. The last shot we got of him was seeing him tearfully hold his father's head and (probably) vowing to avenge him.

He never did by the way. Another wasted opportunity for Episode III.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
