Getting to know your fellow survivors too well can be troubling in a disaster movie, but actively insulting them and isolating yourself from them can be even worse!

Karen Wallace (Lee Grant) fails to achieve this fine balance in the third Airport film. Even before disaster strikes, Karen becomes a nightmare (admittedly a hilarious one) not only to her beleaguered husband, Martin (Sir Christopher Lee) and his assistant, Frank Powers (Gil Gerard), but also the rest of the unsuspecting passengers embarking on the doomed Flight 23.

Things get even worse after the luxurious plane crashes into the ocean in the Bermuda Triangle, as Karen threatens to flood the submerged fuselage just so that she can get out.

Even though her fellow passengers stop her, when the inevitable tidal wave eventually tears through the sunken airliner, no one is really upset to see that Karen is one of the first passengers to be swept to their death.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
