The Christopher Reeve-starring Superman movies always had an inherent goofiness to them - even before Nuclear Man showed up! - but there's one time above all others where the Man of Steel (Reeve) made a decision that wasn't just stupid, it was straight-up un-heroic.

In Superman II, Lois Lane (Margot Kidder) learns that Clark Kent is Superman, and at the end of the movie, Clark decides that ignorance is actually bliss, so plants a liplock on her that, miraculously, erases her memory of this information.

Rather than letting Lois learn to adjust to the news and allowing their relationship to evolve, Clark opts to build their entire future on a monumentally manipulative act, while literally messing with his lover's brain in the process. It's not quite gaslighting, but it's not far off, either.

More than stupid, it's creepy, but if Clark was so totally committed to keeping his identity secret, why didn't he give her the roofie-smooch the second she found out? Because movie, that's why.
