8. Dating Cormac McLaggen - The Half-Blood Prince
The Half-Blood Prince featured more romance than any other entry in the Harry Potter series. In addition to Ron’s relationship with Lavender and Harry’s relationship with Ginny, Hermione briefly dated Cormac McLaggen.
Her sole purpose for doing so was to get back at Ron for going out with Lavender when he’d previously agreed to take Hermione to Slughorn’s party.
She soon came to realise her mistake, however, after she was subjected to a non-stop tirade from McLaggen about how good he was at Quidditch, which – as demonstrated later on – was deceitful as well as vein.
Hermione’s frustration at Ron’s behaviour was somewhat understandable, but taking McLaggen to Slughorn’s party just to get revenge was both foolish and a little desperate.
