10 Dumbest Ways Movie Characters Got Themselves Killed
2. Scream - Doggy Door Death
Oh, Scream. For such a classic slasher, you truly do have some iffy moments.
Chief among these is the death of future Charmed Starlet Rose McGowan. Playing the snarky but likeable best friend of final girl Sidney Prescott and girlfriend of (surprise, Sidney) mass murderer Stu, McGowan offers up a fair fight when the killer comes for her.
At first, it’s a tense sequence, and only the sequel’s drawn out pursuit of sorority girl Cici comes close to matching this gripping tone. Tatum gives an impressive but believable athletic display which sees her floor the clumsy Ghostface with some choice kicks and well-placed beer bottle tosses, and the tension of the scene rises as it becomes more and more likely that Tatum may subvert genre rules and prove resourceful enough to escape the clutches of death.
You know, unless she opts to climb out of a garage using the doggy door instead of just pulling the door open or using the switch. How can you be sure the switch works? Well, because the masked murderer immediately triggers it to send her to a gruesome, though not particularly believable, demise.
