10 Early Film Roles For Famous Actors You Totally Forgot
1. Seth Rogen Was Kind Of A Dick In Donnie Darko
Richard Kelly has largely been shamed out Hollywood after two major flops following the cult success of Donnie Darko, one of the few films whose director's cut is worse than what was released. But the trainwreck that was Southland Tales proved one thing: he had a knack for stunt casting - including a strange blend of Kevin Smith, a psuedo-SNL reunion, Justin Timberlake and Sean William Scott.
But Kelly's casting choices were always less than obvious. By 2001, Seth Rogen had already been recruited into producer Judd Apatow's comedy ensemble, appearing in both Freaks and Geeks and its successor Undeclared. He was more of a bit player, however, not breaking through until his supporting role in The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
In the meanwhile, Rogen played the lead bully's blunt sidekick. He doesn't speak much, but his dry, bored delivery could have easily played with the same dry wit he brought to later Apatow projects.
