10 Embarrassing Times Movie Actors Tried To Be Badass

5. Halle Berry - Catwoman

It would be unfair to blame Halle Berry even a smidge for the failure of 2004’s Catwoman. The actress seemed like solid casting in the titular role, but was doomed to being part of an infamously bad film from the moment pen was put to paper on the script. The movie takes a wildly divergent path with the character’s backstory (it involves Egyptian cat gods), and includes astonishingly cringeworthy scenes, most notably the moment in which Berry schools some youths on the basketball court.

All the same, it’s poor old Halle whose face is reddened most by her work here. She is not good in the film Catwoman. She was set up to fail, and fail she most certainly did. This is an origin story without any intrigue, drama, or progression. It’s just Halle Berry in a skin tight suit doing some kicks and the odd groanworthy quip.

In fairness, this is likely what the producers (and much of the audience) were after, but Berry - who absolutely can do steely badass when the script is right - takes the brunt of the humiliation here. She owned the failure, collecting her Golden Raspberry Award in person, and, mercifully, that allowed us to forget the whole thing ever happened.
