10 Epic Challenges Toy Story 4 Faces

10. Making Itself Seem Necessary

The biggest problem facing any sequel is making itself seem like a necessary continuation of the story that preceded it. This is difficult enough with a first sequel, but it becomes near-impossible with second or third sequels. Furthermore, considering the definite sense of closure that Toy Story 3 gave audiences, with Andy bequeathing his toys to Bonnie, it just doesn't seem like there's anywhere else to go. Still, on the other hand, people were worried about the previous two Toy Story movies, both of which turned out magnificently, and are of course a huge credit to the medium. Even so, neither of those movies had to live up to the finality that Toy Story 3's ending delivered, and quite the premise will be needed to convince most audiences that, after such a heartfelt farewell, another movie is either needed or wanted.
