3. Dutch vs. The Predator - Predator
John McTiernan's classic jungle-set action flick dares to build slowly, milking the inherent manliness of its perfectly-picked cast, as it becomes clear that not everything is as it seems in the South American jungle. When burly brawlers like Carl Weathers, Bill Duke and Jesse Ventura can't survive the beast known as the Predator, you know it's a force to be reckoned with, and the only man seemingly capable of taking down such a sneaky behemoth is, of course, Arnold Schwarzenegger's Dutch. The brilliance of the finale is that the hunted becomes the hunter, with Dutch caking himself in mud to disguise his body heat, before dropping a counter-weight on the Predator that mortally wounds it. That's not all, though, the Predator, realising its imminent death, activates a self-destruct mechanism, which triggers a nuclear explosion that itself nearly kills Dutch. He narrowly escapes and gets a chopper out of dodge.
