Regarded by many as the best character introduction of all time, the opening scene of Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in The West sets the tone for the entire film.

At the station are three hitmen sent by Frank to take out the mysterious man who plays the harmonica. With the men believing that he had not turned up, they turn their backs before the eerie sound of a harmonica rings out from across the track. There stands Charles Bronson, coolly composing himself for what we all know is going to happen. He asks the men if they have bought him a horse, they laugh him off and he asserts that they have bought "two too many".

Harmonica was of course correct, as he then swiftly guns down the three gunslingers.
