1. The Passion Of The Christ
I know this entry may not seem like a typical exploitation film but it has all of the classic trappings of the genre. Many have affectionately referred to this movie as Texas Chainsaw Jesus and Grindhouse Christ which, I have to admit, is hilarious even if it is in bad taste. The reason this film is on the list is it was made for an incredibly low budget and with an exploitative agenda. The Passion of the Christ was sold on the premise that the depiction of Jesus' crucifixion would be the most realistic seen on the screen yet which fits the over sensationalized posters for classic exploitation films from the 70s. If you want to see a film that takes religion seriously and presents an honest portrayal of Christ than watch Scorsese's The Last Temptation of Christ. If you want to watch its B-movie equivalent then pick up a copy of The Passion of the Christ.
