10 Even More Movie Mistakes Directors Refused To Fix Because The Acting Was Too Good

9. Ask Me Again - Almost Famous

The Hateful Eight
Dreamworks/Columbia Pictures

It might have made absolutely zero money at the box office, but Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous is a delightful mixture of coming-of-age, road movie, and mockumentary that is still as fun to watch today as when it came out in 2000.

It follows teenager William Miller (Patrick Fugit) as he tours with fictional band Stillwater whilst writing an article for Rolling Stone magazine. Along the way, he meets groupie or "band aid" Penny Lane.

That can't be her real name, surely?

Penny, who's played by Kate Hudson, takes a shine to William, as its clear that the two are kindred spirits. At the end of the film, she asks him to come with her to Morocco, to which he replies "Yes".

Fugit was unhappy with the way he delivered his response - as he should be, it was flatter than a pancake - and so improvised a line where he asked Hudson to ask him again. Hudson stayed in character, asked him one more time, to which Fugit responded much more emphatically.

This real-life slip-up actually fits the quirky nature of the film to a tee, which is why Crowe decided it was perfect for the finished product.
