7. Wichita And Little Rock Leave - Zombieland 2

Jurassic World 2
Columbia Pictures

There's a lot to pick apart with Zombieland's sequel, but it's healthy to remind yourself that it's a Zombieland sequel, and is really not worth the effort.

What's the problem? Well, it feels like the script was written shortly after the first one came out, and no one considered re-writing or revising some of the dialogue. 2009 jokes about hippy communes, ditsy blondes and Elvis obsessions reek throughout the sequel.

When our four leads claim The White House for their own, it gives protagonist Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) pause and he asks Wichita (Emma Stone) to move forward in their relationship. Wichita freaks out and accuses Columbus as getting too close to her. The next morning she and Little Rock have left Columbus and Tallahassee, in a scene reminiscent of the first film.

What's confusing about this move is that it's established Columbus and Wichita have been together for ten years now. And Wichita is worried Columbus is getting too close to her? They've been together for ten years, not ten days!

This scene is less about the writers giving up, but not trying to change anything at all. The script wasn't updated in the slightest and it shows all the way to the end.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
