1. The Train Scene - Spider-Man 2
Columbia PicturesIn the realm of superhero films, the train scene works as a large fight scene, a confrontation scene between hero and villain, and a inspirational scene all in a cleverly crafted sequence that never feels long, boring, or fake. Every second the stakes are raised higher and higher until Peter saves a train full of people from certain death. Not only is the scene a well-structure fight, it widens the scope of Spider-Man's world, taking the fight from a clock tower to buildings to a train moving throughout the city. Spider-Man 2 has learned from its predecessor and grows from experience reminding the audience that Spider-Man is not only a neighborhood hero but a hero of New York. With people expecting or clamoring for grittier heroes and stories, it pays to have a scene like this that celebrates overcoming odds and saving others. This idealisation within the dreary reality of Peter's life is why the scene remains a standout not only in Spider-Man but comic book films as a whole.
