The moment that started every exciting moment on this list. A short while after joining the Daily Planet, Clark meets and develops feelings for reporter Lois Lane. Soon the award-winning journalist becomes involved in a helicopter accident that leaves her perilously close to death. As conventional means of rescue become impossible, there is nothing any one can do to help. That is until From down below, Clark hears her screams and races across the street, tears open his shirt to reveal, for the first time, the red Superman S. He runs into a revolving door, spins around it at supersonic speeds and emerges in full glorious red, yellow and blue. He flies up and catches Lois as she falls, grabs the toppling helicopter with his other hand and rests it safely on the roof. This moment is epic for both its technical and historical merits. As a sequence of film making, it is crisp and well executed. The effects are progressive and the editing is sharp. Add to this the swelling orchestration of the score and the thrill of seeing Superman on the big-screen for the first time and you have a cinematic moment for the ages.
