10 Famous Actors Who Missed Out On Their Perfect Role

10. Willem Dafoe - The Joker

Willem Dafoe Joker Whenever the subject comes around to the hypothetical casting of the "perfect Joker," there's always somebody who mentions Willem Dafoe's name, and it's not difficult to see why. Dafoe has spent the sum of his career playing all kinds of unhinged, deranged, scenery-chewing baddies - but he's also played Jesus (The Last Temptation of Christ) and Jesus-like characters (think of the messianic Sgt. Elias in Platoon), which marks him out as something of a... well, wild card. So there's no denying that, at one point in time, Dafoe would have certainly been capable of embodying absolutely everything that it would take to create a perfect, manic, terrifying Joker. Don't forget Dafoe played the Green Goblin to hammy perfection in Spider-Man over a decade ago, cementing himself as one of the best on-screen villains of all-time. Alas, he's 58-years-old now, and not the most marketable actor in Hollywood; his time has probably passed.
