10 Famous Horror Movie Moments That Were Completely Improvised
5. Game Over, Man! - Aliens
When it comes to facing off against the most terrifying monster in sci-fi horror, we'd all like to believe we would be hyper-competent Ellen Ripley. In truth, though, most of us would follow a more Private Hudson path from cockiness to complete shambles.
In fact, Bill Paxton's Hudson is essentially Aliens's audience surrogate and, as such, his express elevator to hell has all the best lines.
Director James Cameron noted that his frequent favourite actor Paxton brought a lot of the personality that made the loudmouth Hudson work as a character. In particular, it was Paxton that was responsible for Hudson's most iconic moment.
Hudson's freak out as the Colonial Marines' escape is cut off by the crash of the drop ship was completely improvised by the actor, including infamously announcing "Game over, man! Game over!"
Paxton reasoned that the character would have grown up as a gamer, so this would be his cultural reference point for when things turned really bad. And, really, who cares if "Game Over" screens didn't really make it to the twenty-first century, let alone the twenty-second? That doesn't stop Paxton's ad-lib from resonating with audiences across the years.
