10 Famous Movie Villains That Had Understandable Motives
6. Loki - Thor
He captured the hearts of millions with his charm and handsome features, Tom Hiddlestone's involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has successfully transitioned him from respected young stage actor to legitimate Hollywood star. Loki may seem like a bratty little kid who couldn't get his way, but he was more or less psychologically abused as a child when you think about it. Both he and Thor were the atypical Hollywood brothers: Thor was the jock who was strong, popular and handsome, Loki was the sniveling nerd who kept his head down. Odin raised the two as equals and led Loki to believe he could be the King of Asgard. So when Thor was chosen as Odin's successor it naturally annoyed young Loki. Thor was brash, arrogant, ignorant and lacked the qualities of a strong-minded leader, in fact Loki was a much more suitable candidate, intelligent, articulate, analytic and wise. But Loki swallowed his pride and let his brother have the spotlight, that is until he found out he was adopted. Yes, Odin withheld some vital information from the boy regarding his background, all of this coupled with the fact that he has a bit of a superiority complex drove him to insanity. Wouldn't you hate it if your sibling always got special treatment over you and your skills were vastly under appreciated? Odin picked a favourite and it came back to bite him - you can't place the blame entirely on Loki.
