10 Famous Movie Villains With Lame Motivations

6. Aldrich Killian (Iron Man 3)

The Motivation: Tony Stark failed to attend an unofficial impromptu meeting.

When we first meet him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tony Stark is quite arrogant and self-absorbed, and though he grew into a more traditionally heroic figure, it's impossible to forget that he used to be quite unlikeable - at least from the perception of certain in-universe characters.

At the start of Iron Man 3 we flash back to this more snarky and inconsiderate Tony as he attends a party in 1999. This scene also serves as our introduction to Aldrich Killian, who would go on to be the film's primary antagonist.

Here, Killian is quite clumsy and greasy, and not exactly the type of figure Tony wants to associate himself with - but for Killian, the chance to work with Tony would be a dream come true. So, when Tony jokingly says he'll meet him on the roof later, Killian heads up there and waits, but Tony never shows up. Because of this incident, Killian becomes colder and more ruthless, going on to cause the deaths of countless individuals with the Extremis virus, kidnapping Pepper, almost killing the U.S. president, and attempting to kill Tony.

Sure, Tony didn't show him much respect back in 1999, but then again, a smart guy like Killian really should have been able to read between the lines and sense Tony's sarcasm. Their meeting was also not officially agreed upon, and really, Tony was under no obligation to attend.

It's quite sad that it took something this small to trigger Killian so badly. What the hell does he do when the bus is running late?!
