9. James Cameron & Tim Burton Almost Directed Jurassic Park

Not, not together, though that certainly would've been something to see, huh? Back before Steven Spielberg got his mitts on Michael Crichton's best-selling novel, though, both James Cameron and Tim Burton expressed interest in trying to tackle dinomania on the big screen. Both of these fell through, of course, and we're pretty sure the gig went to the right man in the end. Still...
Would It Have Been Any Good? Cameron talked about a far meaner and bloodier telling of the
Jurassic Park story - presumably one that would have eventually found itself shoe-horned into a
Pocahontas-shaped narrative. That aside, James Cameron's attention to detail and obvious flare for SFX (not to mention the fact that the man had just come off the back of
Aliens and
Terminator 2: Judgment Day, some of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time) means this could've been freakin' amazing. Tim Burton, on the other hand, we're not so sure about. Johnny Depp as Dr. Alan Grant just doesn't feel right, does it?
