10 Famous Movies That Sold Themselves On Boobs Alone
4. Striptease
Talk about putting your movie squarely on the shoulders of some sturdy boobs. Coming out a year after the similarly-premised Showgirls, this Demi Moore vehicle seems like a desperate attempt to cash-in on whatever clout Elizabeth Burkley's "stunning turn" as a stripper had garnered. To be blunt, Striptease was made solely because of this equation: Demi Moore + stripper pole = box office gold. Proving math never lies, the film raked in $12 million in the US on opening weekend (which is how much Moore was paid to go nude for the role, by the way). Unfortunately, it pretty much flushed her career down the toilet. It's unsurprising that Moore shaved her head and starred in G.I. Jane the very next year, hoping to remind audiences she was still a legitimate actress.
