10. Dr. Harold Oxley - John Hurt (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull)
Why They Derailed The Movie: Incredibly Stupid/Cringeworthy Performance Some might say that there was another character far worse than Dr. Oxley in
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Alien Movie Nobody Wanted (it rhymes with "Cryer LaMoof"), but for my money there was none quite so inherently irritating than the one played by John Hurt. I mean, when you hire John Hurt, you sure as hell make sure you don't waste him, a memo that the filmmakers associated with this irksome movie totally forgot to read. What the hell happened? Instead of being granted a role of any real depth, Hurt plays a professor character who, having been exposed to a mysterious artifact, has gone totally mental. As he result, he spends the entire movie in what can only be described as an "idiot's trance," mumbling and staring wide-eyed into the distance. I don't know why they chose to utilise Hurt in this fashion. Alas, I could only shake my head each and every time that this boring dope opened his mouth to say nothing.
