6. Millburn - Rafe Spall (Prometheus)
Why They Derailed The Movie: The Moment Our Suspension Of Disbelief Died The demise of Millburn marked the first true moment in
Prometheus where we, as an audience, got the first inkling that something wasn't quite right about the movie in the logic department. And though the rest of the movie is filled with so many absurd happenings, it was right here - where Rafe Spall's biologist character tries to entice an alien snake monster like he's talking to a puppy - that suspension of disbelief probably died for all. This has been one of many major talking points with regards to the logical fallacies that make up so much of
Prometheus' runtime, but this one sticks firmly in the memory because it's so darn ludicrous. And the fact that the moment is embodied by the stupidity of one character (why would a world-renowned biologist approach an alien lifeform so casually?) means that Millburn feels the most responsible for the rest of the movie's failings.
