3. The Avengers Goes Bigger (And Hopefully Better)
Few are going to envy Joss Whedon as he begins to assemble the Avengers sequel, Age of Ultron, given how hugely successful the original film was both critically and commercially, grossing over $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office, and the sorts of expectations this invites. Whedon, however, has a stellar track record to date, and even
if the film doesn't manage to measure up to the stunning heights of 2012's first foray, it's still likely to be a massive box office success. What works in its favour is the state of affairs so far; Iron Man 3 followed The Avengers and was a stupendous box office hit, and so audiences will likely be clamouring to see more of Tony Stark by 2015. That's without even talking about Thor and Captain America, both of whom have films due for release well before Age of Ultron hits cinemas. What this sequel allows Whedon to do is expand the universe considerably now that the origin story has been established, and the likelihood of seeing characters such as the Guardians of the Galaxy intermingling with The Avengers is a sure bet indeed. Releases May 1st, 2015.
